Formation of teams and development of the first iterations of a significant software system. Work includes project management, analysis, quality assurance, design, and implementation. Deliverables include written documentation and presentations in class. Work is guided by a professor, but is performed for an external entity designated the 'customer', who must be satisfied with the group's work. Students are expected to address any risks or societal concerns raised by their project (legal liability, financial costs, community impact) in keeping with the obligations and responsibilities expected of a professional engineer.
This course is great and really puts everything you learned to the test. Prof Peyton and Prof Lethbridge have slightly different styles, however they are both great in their own ways. The hardest part about this class is trying to juggle it with all the other courses you're taking.
I WOULD recommend this course to others.
Report ReviewThis is your typical SEG capstone course (the first part) and even though it's mandatory, I find it to be a really useful class and it summarizes everything that was learned throughout the program. Fairly laid back approach where you steadily work on your project throughout the semester. Make sure you don't leave everything until the end or it will hit you hard.
I WOULD recommend this course to others.
